DIY Christmas Candle
DIY Christmas Candle – I love Christmas decor. Absolutely adore it, yet it can be so pricey sometimes! I was shopping at a large retail store a while back when I saw a candle that I wanted to buy. Only, once I checked the price I was no longer in love with it at all. You see, they wanted $15 for a candle because it was pretty. Not my kind of candle. In fact, none of the candles on that aisle were less than $8. Dishearten, I walked away and as I was on the opposite end of the store something caught my attention – more candles. They were tucked away in a corner, all by themselves. You’ve seen them, they are the emergency and religious candles. You can also find them at the dollar stores.
Two candles only cost me $3 by the time that tax was added on, much better than $8 for the cheaper candles in the same store on a different aisle. However, these were not pretty. Not pretty at all. Actually they were really rather boring and I’m just not up for boring decor.
But guess what! They don’t look boring anymore. I went over to the aisle where the yard sale signs are and found glittery letters. A pack cost me another $3 and came with three sets of letters. More than enough for my two candles.
So, for $6 I was able to create two adorable Christmas Candles instead of buying the one that I saw (in the same store!) for $15 a piece!
Just because you are frugal with your money doesn’t mean you can’t have nice things and I think this was a great reminder of that. You see, living on a budget isn’t a death wish. It’s not the end of the world, it’s just a wise thing to do. Before you buy something at sticker price take a moment to look around and see if there is a cheaper alternative. Sometimes there is not. However, wouldn’t you like to know that for a fact before you bought something for full retail value? If you are interested in learning more about ways to save money be sure to follow us on Facebook.
